ABOUT THE BLOG

Our Story

On February 27, 2019, my husband took his own life, and in the turn of a corner in our basement my life, and that of my children's, changed forever.  John was a happy, gregarious, fun loving person.  He showed no obvious signs of depression and sought no help for whatever ailed him. The purpose of this blog is to share my experiences of life without John; the sadness, the anger, the frustration, moving on and small steps to becoming closer to fine.  In doing so, I hope to catch the eye of those who struggle, those who have dealt with unimaginable sadness and those who have lost someone to suicide, cancer or other afflictions.  Equally important is sharing stories about making peace with tragedy, and coming out the other side to find a new form of happiness. My hope is to start honest conversations and bring our mental health crisis closer to the forefront.  In talking there is sharing, in sharing there is community and in community there is support and hope.  I encourage you to reach out to me and share your stories of life, loss, tragedy and triumph.
